Move Forward

lifechurch Uncategorized

Moving Forward New Year’s resolutions are easy to make, but often don’t stick. The problem? Habits are so established in our lives that the resolutions have no basis of development. The underlying patterns determine how we move forward, and resolutions are often just wishful thinking. Establishing Patterns “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Gen. 1:1) If you read through the account of creation you see exquisite patterns emerge: day/night; earth/sky; water/land; sun/moon…and God infused life into it all! Fish…plants…animals…then the creation of humans…not random… Then God said, “let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Gen. 1:26-27 The story unfolds…Adam and Eve’s choice…sin enters…repeated by us… Establishing Patterns A cursed creation left groaning,Burdened,Choked. Destined to spoil,Everything toil. Establishing Patterns “Come now, let us reason together,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as …

Happy New Year

lifechurch Uncategorized

The year 2000…I remember looking at that from the 1980 lens and thinking, “wow, when it’s 2000 I’ll be 30 years old…” Those thoughts are 40 years old now, and the promise of half a century is on the horizon! How have those years transpired? One day at a time.  Days, months, years…flow in one direction, and we flow with them. Like a river that gathers strength and seems to flow faster further down, our lives move exponentially quicker as years are added.  There’s no stopping the current, we’re along for the ride.  Rapids, whirlpools, and quiet water are all parts of the same river…it’s no different in our lives…at times the shift from one to the other is unexpected and unwanted. How do we navigate?  One day at a time.  Can you imagine if we didn’t have the gift of rest, if our lives were continuous flow without sleep? The compounding of: thoughts, failures, success, noise…go…go…go! No thanks! Truly God has blessed us with a break, He built it in at the outset:  And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called …
