October Recap

lifechurch Events and Activities, Life Weekly

It was a busy month! For those who missed it, here’s a recap of what went down in October. Celebration: Craig continued through Mark with Chapters 7 & 8. He and Stacy were also able to share the Word with the body of Christ in Peterborough. Jason and Amanda spoke about Faith, and things that hinder us from walking out in faith. It was a blessing to hear them share some of their own experiences in this area. Carrie shared about the “Feeding Miracles” and tied together the Israelite’s wandering in the desert to Jesus’ teaching on the bread of life. A group was able to spend some time at the Claremont Christmas Bazaar held at the community centre. It was a great chance for us to engage with the community and let people know what’s coming up at Life Church, and what we’re all about. The food drive was another success! We were able to collect lots of food for the local food bank and even got to encourage some people along the way. Food can still be dropped off Sunday if you weren’t able to get your donations in on the 31st. Thanks Claremont!

Hey Life Church and Claremont community! On October 31st, instead of going our for candy, our Life Groups are going to be going door to door for non-perishable foods to help out our local food banks. For Life Groups: Please be at the LC for 6:00. Once we’ve broken up into groups we will be heading off to different parts of the community. For the community: Tell your neighbours, tell your friends! Easter at Life Church

lifechurch Celebration, Events and Activities

Good Friday at 10am we will meet at Claremont United to walk the Cross to our building. There will be Stations of the Cross along the way, with a time of singing, reflection and thanksgiving once we arrive. Invite your friends and family to this meaningful time that centres on the suffering and sacrifice of Christ. Easter Morning: a special time with Daniel (a man of God who has been completely gripped by the grace of God through Jesus Christ!) come and hear his story! 6:30am – Sunrise Service at Duffins Creek conservation area (Conc. 7 and Westney Rd). Daniel will be sharing part of his testimony, and then we will have breakfast with the other churches at Mt. Zion United. 10am – Daniel will be bringing the message of the Resurrection to us…you won’t want to miss it! Daniel will be a huge encouragement to your faith! A new commandment… I’m so looking forward to walking the Cross on Friday; stopping to contemplate the steps of Jesus, and the burden of our sin that he carried and bore for us. Maybe you’ve been reading the scriptures around Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, the events that took place, and the people that interacted …

Lent

lifechurch Uncategorized

We have entered the season of Lent in the Church. Lent began today (Ash Wednesday) and goes through to Thursday, March 29 (Maundy Thursday). It leads us with Christ to the night he was betrayed. During this time we’re encouraged to: give up, give to, gain from. Give up (fasting): food, certain comforts, media, etc. Give to: blessing those with need. Gain from: sustained in our time spent walking with Jesus.  The Apostle Paul said in Philippians, “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.” (Phil. 3:10-11)
